Online Resources & Information

Provides access and links to useful resources including the Ancestry Online family history website with access to census records, births, marriages and deaths records, and much more. Available at Wokingham, Woodley, Earley libraries and to cardholders at home during the lockdown period.
Online Books/Audio Books

The e-Books and e-Audio  Books Services allow you to:
-Download the RB Digital mobile app to your computer, smartphone or tablet
-Borrow/Read 6 e-books at a time for up to 21 days
-Listen to unlimited audio books on your phone, MP3 player, iPod or computer
Online Magazines & Newspapers

This service allows you to:
-Download the Press Reader app to your computer, smartphone or tablet 
-Read current copy of most daily/Sunday newspapers, many local newspapers, wide selection of magazines  
-Access a selection of newspapers and magazines from all over the world
Online Music

This service allows you to:
-Download the Freegal Music app to your computer, smartphone or tablet
-Stream music for 3 hours per day, and download 3 tracks each week
-Choose from over 15 million tracks from 1000s of artists
-Create your own playlists, or choose from existing lists

Google Play Bookstore 

An collection of free books to read online is available on Google Play Bookstore. On the Google Play site, type Free Books in the Search Bar which will bring up lists of free books and audio books to choose from.  Free books are downloaded into and stored in your Google Library. Includes some bestsellers, mystery thrillers, favourite classics and more. Books are available in several formats, You can also check out ratings and reviews from other users.

This site contains over 50,000 online books available for a free download.

While you're more likely to find older, classic titles available for free than contemporary ones, ManyBooks still has a selection of more recent novels, a number of which appear in the Editor's choice selection, at the end of a category page. You are also able to access other eBooks that are available for a discounted price.
Open Library

Open Library is a non-profit, open source, digital public library, hosted by the Internet Archive, which lends millions of ebooks each year. The ultimate goal of the Open Library is to make all the published works of humankind available to everyone in the world, .Open Library is made possible by volunteers from more than 8 different countries.
Search by genre. 

Project Gutenberg

With over 50,000 books online, Project Gutenberg is a great resource for books across a range of genres that are already in the public domain. Books are available in ePub, Kindle, HTML, and simple text formats.The organisation is run entirely by volunteers who digitise and proofread works.
